Nailsea Flower Show
The Nailsea & District Horticultural Society holds the Nailsea Flower Show. The annual summer flower show takes place in a marquee on Golden Valley playing fields on Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd August. The society also plays host to the annual Spring Show which is held on Saturday 4th April at Nailsea School. The horticultural Society meets regularly on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm at the United Reformed Church Hall in Nailsea with regular lectures and events.

Nailsea has its own carnival which will be held on the 1st Saturday of every July. Fun and games held after the procession at the Scotch Horn Filed. Many local organizations will have stalls.

Town Council

Nailsea Town Council is elected every four years. The Town is divided into five Wards, Mizzymead, Yeo, West End, Golden Valley and Youngwood and four Councilors represent each Ward. The Town Council and its Committees meet most Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm at Church House, Silver Street. At full Town Council meetings there is a 10 minute public participation section when any resident may raise issues relevant to the Town.
Nailsea has an active and enthusiastic Town Council whose members are keen to maintain a good quality of life for residents. In April every year the Council holds an Annual Town Meeting to explain to residents the work it has undertaken on their behalf and to seek their views and comments.

Backwell has its own purpose-built Recycling Centre and is one of three in North Somerset. As well as being able to recycle a wide variety of your usual household waste at the centres you can now recycle plastic as well.
Opening times: The centre is open from 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday, Saturday 8am - 4.30pm and Sunday 9am until 4pm until 1st October 2009. However, the centre will be closed on Bank Holidays.
